How far along are you? I’m 12 weeks (2 days)!

How I’m feeling: I’ve actually been feeling a lot better. I have more energy and I have been less nauseous.  I actually don’t think I shared this in my last post but I have been having insane nausea with virtually no vomiting (there has been a little). While this sounds like a good thing it has been pretty terrible because I will have intense gagging fits that are triggered by smells mostly or poopy diapers. This has calmed down a bit but unfortunately it still happens occasionally. I am hoping that since I am so close to the second trimester that I will feeling much better and more energetic.

Total weight gain: No idea aka I don’t want to weigh myself.

Maternity clothes: Same as last week- I am in maternity pants and mostly regular tops. The thing that I am in desperate need of is a new bathing suit. We recently joined a gym with a pool and Edith and I like to go to the pool a few times per week and well my bathing suit is a little small now due to my growing belly. I think I can get away with it for another week or two but I know eventually this belly is going to get in the way and I’m going to need to buy a new one. Side note who knew it would be such a challenge to find a bathing suit in January (haha).

Sleep: Sleep seems to be hit or miss for me. One tip my midwife gave me was to have something fatty before bed to help prevent 3am wake ups and pregnancy insomnia. So far it seems to work when I actually do it but when I don’t I wake up at 3 or 4 and sometimes I can’t get back to sleep. I also am still hating my mini snoogle and Neil agreed it’s not as good as the big one so I guess I will be buying a new snoogle.

What’s been going on this week: It has really started to settle in that we are going to have a second baby. With that it is also setting in that there are a number of things that we need to save to buy because well we got rid of a lot of things when we moved because we had a. planned to be a one and done family at the time and b. because we just didn’t have the room to take items we were no longer using. So now we are having to rebuy our favorite items.

Movement: None yet.

Food cravings: This week it has been an insane craving for peppermint chip vegan ice cream and when I finally had it I was beyond thrilled. Funny thing is though I usually HATE peppermint chip ice cream.

Food aversions: Same as last week.

What I Miss: Having Neil home. My big snoogle.

I hear you on the bathing suits! I took water aerobics this time last year when I was pregnant and it was a pain to find one, plus I was afraid to order online since I didn’t know how it would fit. It wasn’t very attractive and not always comfortable but since I already owned a tankini, I was able to wear that (with a tank top over it toward the end) for the duration. Another downside is I tried to wear it again post-pregnancy and I have totally stretched it out, ha ha.

    • I was lucky enough to find a bathing suit super cheap when I was pregnant with Edith but I didn’t buy it until around May so it was actually bathing suit season. Now here we are in January and we go to the pool at least once per week and I am so in need of a new suit and unfortunately will probably have to pay more than I’d like. Oh well at least I can justify that it will get more use? Huge bummer though is I will probably have to purchase online since NO stores have bathing suits in them around here.
